Ice Pop Sale - July 2026

Catholic Social Teaching Principle - The Common Good

Throughout Term 6, the Sunshine Team held an Ice Pop sale and raised £476.35. All of the money raised has been used to purchase Bibles for our new Year 2, going into Year 3 class. When the children at Stella Maris move to Key Stage 2, we buy them each their own Bible which they will take with them all the way to Year 6. The Bible will then go with the children when they leave Stella Maris.

Canada Day Prayer Service - July 2026

Catholic Social Teaching Principle - Dignity

Our Year 6 children attend a Prayer and Liturgy Service for Canada Day on Wednesday 1st July, at the Shorncliffe Military Cemetery, and it was a really beautiful service.  All of the children had the opportunity to pray, reflect and remember all of those who have died during the Wars. Every child placed flowers on the grave of a Canadian Soldier.

Recycling Assembly - July 2026

Catholic Social Teaching Principle - Stewardship

On Wednesday 1st July we welcomed Country Style to school and learnt all about the importance of recycling. The whole school learnt lots of information and it was a wonderful way to remind us of how we can respect and look after our planet. Every classroom now has a food recycling bin, a bin for mixed recycling and one for paper and we are all going to try really hard with our recycling. After the assembly, the Sunshine Team spent the morning collecting rubbish and put it in the correct bin.

Enrichment Day - June 2026

Catholic Social Teaching Principle - Stewardship

On Tuesday 23rd June we had a whole school Enrichment Day with a focus on trees and our beautiful world that God has given to us. Each class created some wonderful artwork to display outside which could be enjoyed by all. The children spent the day attending workshops about the wildlife and the trees surrounding us. The children also learnt all about the amazing trees in nature and to finish the day, parents were invited to school for a picnic and to enjoy our learning. Some classes sang songs, some shared poetry and some shared facts they had learnt. The Sunshine Team led the whole school in prayers and Fr John came to bless a pear tree that we are going to plant in our school orchard. It was simply a wonderful day and gave us time to think about how we can all be stewards of this Earth.

Big Lent Walk - March 2026

Catholic Social Teaching Principles - Dignity, Solidarity, Common Good and Protecting the Poor

On Thursday 26th March the whole school took part in the Big Lent Walk for Cafod. On the day, we all wore purple for Lent and walked together around our school field. It was such a lovely event where we were able to come together as one and the sun was shining on us! In total, we walked over 200km and were so proud of our school family for raising £698 for Cafod. We were also very privileged to have Maggie as a representative for Cafod come and walk with us!

Lenten Breakfast - March 2026

Catholic Social Teaching Principle - Solidarity and Creation and Environment

On Thursday 19th March, we held our Lenten Breakfast for our families and wider community. It was such a lovely way to start the day and the Lenten season. Families joined us for a cooked breakfast, cereal and toast, and all of the money raised has been added to the Sunshine Team's hard work of developing the outdoor learning environments. As a school, we raised £90 and we really look forward to seeing how the outdoor environments begin to take shape.
